SOPO Bicycle Cooperative in Grant Park is premiering its new Family Day at the shop this Sunday from 2pm-6pm. Moving forward, the 2nd Sunday of the month will be Family Day!
SOPO Bicycle Cooperative is open to the general community during the week for individuals of all ages to come and work on their bicycles with the assistance of our volunteers. We think that having an exclusive day for families to work on bikes together is a great way to get parents and children working together to build new bikes and repair hand-me-downs. One of the main goals of the Family Day is to encourage utility and recreational cycling as a family with convenient hours for working parents.
Right now we are inviting parents in the Grant Park Parent’s Network, Grant Park Neighborhood Association, and Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School’s Bike Club to this event as a trial to see whether it will work to provide a safe workplace for families with children of all ages. The Family Day will operate along the lines of our existing shop days with open shop time and the assistance of our volunteers but we can offer maintenance classes if the parents would like those as well.
